Best Places to Visit in November: 11 Spots With Real Weather Data

October 15, 2026

Our picks for the best places to visit in November include Dubai at 87.8°F (31.0°C), Perth with 13.0 sun hours a day and Cape Town at 72.3°F (22.4°C). Numbers are 20-year averages for eleven cities.

The best places to visit in November are the ones where a rainy season has just finished or a long summer has just broken: Dubai (87.8°F (31.0°C) on an average afternoon), Bangkok, Honolulu, Perth and Cape Town for warmth, and Kyoto, Seville and Mexico City for sightseeing in comfortable, dry-ish weather. Those are our eleven picks, and every figure below is a 20-year average from 2006 to 2025.

November is an awkward month for travel writers because the northern half of the world is losing light fast. Oslo gets 2.5 hours of sun a day and Helsinki gets 2.0. So the list leans toward places that are either tropical and past their rains, desert, or in the southern hemisphere, where November is late spring and the days are getting longer.

Best places to visit in November at a glance

Sorted roughly from hottest to mildest. Rain is the monthly total, and rainy days means days with measurable rain.

A quick read of that table. Dubai and Delhi are the driest, each with about 1 rainy day in the whole month. Perth is the sunniest at 13.0 hours a day. Kyoto is the coolest and also the one with the most obvious seasonal reason to be there. Most of the rest land between the high 60s and the high 70s Fahrenheit on a typical afternoon, which is the range people tend to enjoy most.

Hot and dry: Dubai, Bangkok and Delhi

Dubai is the easiest recommendation on the list. Highs average 87.8°F (31.0°C), lows are 67.1°F (19.5°C), and measurable rain is close to a non-event at 0.2 in (5 mm). Humidity is 60%, which is far kinder than the sticky summer months. You can sit outside, walk to places, and use the beach in the afternoon. It suits first-time visitors, families, and anyone who wants guaranteed sun. Skip it if you want a cultural city break with old streets and cool evenings, because it does not offer that.

Bangkok is hot (88.0°F (31.1°C)) but this is the month the monsoon rains thin out. We count 9 rainy days and 2.5 in (64 mm) of rain, down sharply from the wetter months before it. Humidity is still 73%, so the heat has weight to it. Plan temples, markets and river trips for the morning and be indoors by two. Loy Krathong, the lantern and floating-offering festival, usually falls in November, and it is a good reason to choose this month. Be careful with the islands, though. Phuket still has 23 rainy days in November, and we would not plan a beach week there yet. If Thailand is the whole trip, our best time to visit Thailand guide splits the coasts properly.

Delhi is the most conditional pick. The weather is excellent on paper: 80.8°F (27.1°C) highs, 57.6°F (14.2°C) lows, 0.2 in (5 mm) of rain, and 10.0 hours of sun. The catch is air quality, which is often poor in Delhi in autumn and early winter, and none of our weather data measures that. If you have asthma or travel with small children, check air-quality readings close to your dates or move this trip to February or March. For everyone else it is a comfortable month for Mughal tombs and long walks, with the heat of summer long gone.

Southern hemisphere spring: Cape Town, Perth, Sydney and Buenos Aires

Seasons are reversed south of the equator, so November is late spring heading into summer, not autumn. That is why four of our eleven picks are here.

Cape Town is probably the strongest all-rounder among the best places to visit in November on this list. Highs are 72.3°F (22.4°C), rain is a modest 1.1 in (28 mm) over 5 rainy days, and sunshine runs to 12.5 hours a day. The sea is still cold, which is true all year on the Atlantic side, and the south-easterly wind can be strong enough to close the cable car, so keep one flexible day for Table Mountain. We would book this month before the December crowds arrive. Our South Africa guide covers the rest of the country.

Perth is the driest and sunniest city of the lot, with only 4 rainy days, 0.8 in (20 mm) of rain and 13.0 hours of sun. Highs of 78.1°F (25.6°C) and lows of 59.4°F (15.2°C) make it ideal for beaches and day trips without the fierce heat of January and February.

Sydney is a little cloudier and wetter, with 10 rainy days and 3.1 in (79 mm), but highs of 74.1°F (23.4°C) and 10.8 sun hours are still very good. Pack a light rain jacket and plan outdoor days with a backup. More on the country in our Australia guide.

Buenos Aires has 75.9°F (24.4°C) highs, 8 rainy days and 11.4 hours of sun. It is a walking city, and November is about as good as it gets for walking: warm, bright, and not yet summer-sticky. The jacarandas usually flower around this time too. Compare it with our Buenos Aires guide if you are choosing between months.

Mild and scenic: Honolulu, Mexico City, Seville and Kyoto

Honolulu is the beach pick for people who want to avoid long-haul heat. Highs average 79.9°F (26.6°C), and rain is 1.5 in (38 mm) over 7 rainy days. It is the start of the wetter, rougher winter season, so north-shore waves can be dangerous for swimmers, but the south shore stays gentle. Fares and hotel prices usually climb at the end of the month as the holiday rush starts. See our Hawaii guide before you pick an island.

Mexico City is high and dry at this time of year: 70.5°F (21.4°C) highs, cool 48.0°F (8.9°C) nights, 1.1 in (28 mm) of rain and 10.1 hours of sun. The summer storms are over. Day of the Dead on 1 and 2 November is the obvious draw. Bring a jacket for the evenings and be careful about the altitude on your first day. Our Mexico City guide has the full year.

Seville has already dropped from its brutal summer to 67.1°F (19.5°C) by day and 51.1°F (10.6°C) at night, with 7 rainy days. It is a pleasant temperature for walking through the Alcázar and the old quarter without queuing in the sun. It is not a beach destination, and some evenings will want a proper coat.

Kyoto is the cool one. Highs are 60.8°F (16.0°C), lows 45.1°F (7.3°C), and 7 rainy days with 7.7 hours of sun. The autumn leaves usually peak in the second half of the month, which also makes it the busiest and most expensive time to be there. Book accommodation months ahead and start temple visits at opening time. For a wider look at the country, read our best time of year to visit Japan.

Early November or late November?

Even the best places to visit in November change character over thirty days. The month is not one block. The first week still feels like October in the warm places and like the start of winter in the cold ones. By the last week, northern Europe and North America are in a different season, school holidays in some countries are about to begin, and prices in beach destinations start rising for December.

For most of the picks above we would travel in the middle two weeks. Kyoto is the exception, because the leaves arrive late and the second half of the month is when the colour is usually at its best. Mexico City is the other exception: if the festival is the point, you need the first two days. Bangkok is nicer later in the month, once the last storms have cleared, and Cape Town is better earlier, before the December holiday crowds fill the beaches.

A practical rule we use: if the place is a warm one, go early and save money. If it is a city that depends on autumn colour or a festival, go on the date, book first, and accept the crowds. The data only tells you what the weather is likely to do, and a good month can still be a bad week if you land on the wrong one.

It also helps to count daylight. In Kyoto the sun averages 7.7 hours a day, in Seville 8.2, and in Cape Town 12.5. Those hours decide how much you can fit in, so a city with a long, bright day will feel bigger than the same itinerary in a grey northern capital.

Where we would not go in November

Some places look tempting on a map and disappoint in practice. The wettest in our data: Singapore has 28 rainy days and 12.7 in (323 mm), Kuala Lumpur 29 days and 15.3 in (389 mm), and Cebu 26 days. Quito sees rain on 28 days, and San Jose in Costa Rica gets 14.2 in (361 mm), so skip Costa Rica until December if you can; our Costa Rica guide explains the shift.

In the north, skip Scandinavia and Iceland unless you want darkness on purpose. Bergen has 19 rainy days and 2.9 hours of sun. Vancouver logs 13.0 in (330 mm) on 19 days. And the Caribbean is a mixed bag: Atlantic hurricane season officially ends on 30 November, so the risk is falling, but it is not zero.

How to choose the best places to visit in November by goal

  • Beach days: Dubai, Perth and Honolulu, in that order for reliability. Sydney if you can accept a few grey days.
  • City sightseeing: Seville, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Kyoto, where walking is comfortable all day.
  • Lowest chance of rain: Dubai and Delhi, each with about one rainy day.
  • Avoiding crowds: Cape Town and Perth before December, and Bangkok before Christmas. Kyoto is the opposite.
  • Families: Dubai, Perth and Sydney, with predictable days and easy logistics.
  • Cheaper flights: in general, the first three weeks of November sit before the holiday peak, but check fares for your own route.

If you have a different map of the month in mind, we also wrote places to visit in November with a different set of destinations grouped by trip type, and the trip planner will help line up dates.

What to pack

November is the month of layers. For Dubai, Bangkok, Perth and Honolulu, pack light fabrics, sunscreen and a thin rain layer, and add a sweater for air conditioning. For Cape Town and Sydney, pack for sun but include a windproof jacket. For Seville, Kyoto and Mexico City, bring a fleece or a light coat, because evenings fall to lows of roughly 7 to 11°C. If your daily highs land in the 60s Fahrenheit, our 60 degree guide shows what works; for the 70s, use the 70 degree guide.

Our data note

Every number in this article is a 20-year average from 2006 to 2025, drawn from the Open-Meteo historical weather data. These are typical conditions, not a forecast. A specific November can be wetter or hotter than the figure shown, and a single storm can change a beach week. Use the averages to shortlist the best places to visit in November for your own trip, then watch the seven-day forecast before you leave. Festival timing is described as usual, not fixed; check dates before booking.
